Ljubljana did it again

The Middle European League-champion 2014 called once again ACH Volley Ljubljana. On Wednesday in the well-frequented JUFA Arena in Bleiburg the titleholder and record champion won the Final Four-final versus host Posojilnica Aich/Dob 3:0 (25:22, 25:17, 25:15).

In the duel of champions league teams the Austrian champion could not connect at any time to their performance of the previous day versus Chemes Humenne. Nevertheless the first set has shown a very good quality. But after the first set Aich/Dob lost the track and ACH Volley had an easy job putting the Austrians in their place. After only 82 minutes the Slovenian serial champion topped their performance by realizing the second match ball for 25:15 and 3:0.

“We have shown a dumb kind of playing, could not build up pressure at any time. Everybody did mistakes, so the team´s mood was not the best in the course of the match. So you can not win any final. My team´s performance today I can not explain. But there is no excuse for that. To lose in this way is pretty bitter“, said very disappointed Aich/Dob´s Peter Wohlfahrtstätter.

“We have speculated with the title. Now we are very disappointed. Actually, we had no chance. It was a desolate performance. After the champions league unfortunately the harmony was somehow lost“, summed up Aich/Dob-sport director Martin Micheu.

Humenne nailed down the third place
In the third-place-playoff VK Chemes Humenne gave no chance to VCA Amstetten HYPO NÖ. The Slovakians won in 75 minutes 3:0 (25:18, 25:17, 25:22).

Again the VCA´s receiving was not solid enough, although better than in the semi-final. However, especially in the offence too much mistakes happened. As to Ljubljana the third set was the best stage. This leg was shaped by some changes of leadership. But at the end the Slovakians had the edge over VCA.

But in contrast to the previous day´s defeat against ACH Volley Ljubljana VCA-coach Martin Cop was not dissatisfied: “We have shown a good fight. In the crucial moments Humenne was a trifle better. The Slovakians simply have a good quality. If my team plays on the top versus such teams but the opponent is the better one, so I am not disappointed. Yesterday I was disappointed.“
