Doppler/Mellitzer in Main Draw in Baden

This weekend the MEVZA Beach Volleyball championships kick off for the first time in Baden/Austria. Clemens Doppler and Matthias Mellitzer had a tough fight in the qualifying match up against the Slovenes Zemljak/Pajenk to reach the Main Draw.

Alen Pajenk, a middle blocker for MEL-Champion ACH Bled, proved to be a hard opponent with his height of 205 cm. Finally Doppler Mellitzer secured a 2:0 (21/22)-win with their better experience.

"I like the result, but the performance could be better. We are certainly among the favourites with Gosch/Horst an the Czechs', said Clemens Doppler.

Number one in the Men's field are Florian Gosch and Alexander Horst. "We relaxed the last weekend and started preparing for the tournament after that. We like to come here, because the crowd creates a nice atmosphere and the ambience is really nice', so Horst.

The Main Draw of Men's and Women's competition starts Friday.
