MEVZA starts Beach-Championships

For the first time the Middle European Volleyball Zonal Association (MEVZA) is holding a beachvolleyball-tournament in Baden near Vienna (Austria): The BEACHVOLLEYBALL MIDDLE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP presented by Sportland NÖ & Autohaus Bierbaum.

The MEVZA realizes a Middle European championship on sand for the very first time ever, and VISION05 has managed to bring this tournament to Austria. Many international beachvolleyball top players will get together in Baden near Vienna, such as the Austrian top-teams Horst/Gosch and the Schwaiger-sisters who are already fixed their start. According to the big volleyball tradition of the neighboring countries united in the MEVZA, a lot of other top-teams of these countries are expected in Baden. The qualifying will take place on Thursday, the 3rd of June. On Friday, saturday and sunday the top 16 male and female teams will fight for the title and the prize money in the amount of 12.000 Euros at the first Middle European championship in beach volleyball.

"We as Middle European Volleyball Zonal Association (MEVZA) are happy to organize the 1st MIDDLE EUROPEAN BEACHVOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP together with the federal state of Lower Austria, the promoter Vision05 and its partners. We are sure it will become a big success and we will offer for all teams a competition of high level which will also be a perfect preparation for the upcoming qualifications for the Olympic Games 2012", says Karl Hanzl, president of the MEVZA and vice-president of the Austrian Volleyball Association.
