CL-Final Four rescheduled for May 1-2

After having thoroughly analyzed the calendar of the various national leagues concerned and with the aim of identifying a solution that would be suitable - as far as possible - to the needs of the four participating teams, the European Volleyball Confederation is pleased to inform that the final four of the 2009/2010 CEV Indesit Champions League has been re-scheduled for next May 1-2 and will take place at the Atlas Arena in Lodz as it was initially foreseen.

"We address our sincere gratitude to all National Federations and to their respective clubs for their contribution and their availability in looking for a solution that was likely to suit to the needs of the various parties concerned. Moreover, we would also like to sincerely thank the Polish Volleyball Federation and the club of PGE Skra BELCHATOW who expressed their intention to re-stage the event after the difficult circumstances they had been going through last weekend' says CEV President Andre Meyer.

The final four of this year's CEV Indesit Champions League was cancelled this past Saturday, April 10, after the plane crash that caused the death of Polish President Lech Kaczynski and many other Polish high officials on their way to attend an official ceremony to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre.

In about two weeks the Italians of TRENTINO BetClic will try to double the trophy they seized last year in Prague but will first have a tough job in the semifinal against MEL-Champion ACH Volley BLED, whereas the local heroes of PGE Skra BELCHATOW will vie for a spot in the final match against Russian powerhouse Dinamo MOSCOW. - ANS/RED/MEVZA
