MEL entering final phase

Last weekend the regular season of Womens Middle European League was concluded. The big showdown, the Final Four will go down in Split on the 13th and 14th of March. Qualified are ZOK Rijeka, that has only lost two games this season, followed by Austrian champion SVS Post, Branik Maribor and hosting Split.
Rijeka and Split will meet in a Croatian duel in the first semi final. Split won their last game on the 27th of February in front of their home crowd by 3:2. This win will boost their confidence, although Rijeka had already clinched the top of the table and Split was qualified as host of the Final Four.
SVS Post will face Maribor in the second semi final. The Austrians are favourites after winning both regular season meetings. A look on the final standings shows how close both teams were, as Post collected only one more point.
The Mens Final Four-tournament had to be moved because of the sensational advancement of Hypo Tirol and ACH Volley to the Top-6 of the Champions League. It will now be held on the 12th and 14th of March featuring two semi finals and the final hosted by the hotVolleys. The other three participants in the Budocenter will be Hypo Tirol, ACH Volley Bled and HAOk Mladost. The Croats had their success of their own in European competition by entering the semifinals of the Challenge Cup. - HAC/MEVZA
